Americans' Unorthodox Beliefs

Research shows not all who identify as Christians are on the same page

Influence Magazine on September 21, 2016

While the segment of religiously unaffiliated rises, 73 percent of the nation continues to identify as Christian. However, we might not all be saying the same thing when we call ourselves believers.

According to new research from Barna, some Americans — Christians included — hold unorthodox beliefs. When asked if they, personally, were responsible for sharing their beliefs with others, 54 percent said no. On a similar note, 55 percent agreed with the statement, “Good works result in going to heaven.”

It’s important that we’re educating the people in our pews about what the Bible really says. Does this research surprise you?
