Christians Are More Generous Than Unbelievers

Research from Barna shows most Christians donate to the Church

Influence Magazine on November 7, 2016

In a tumultuous world where the news is often disappointing, some things are as they should be. Here’s a positive statistic: According to Barna’s 2016 State of the Church Report, almost all practicing Christians (94 percent) have made financial contributions to a church.

As Barna notes, Christians are more generous than others when it comes to giving, even if the donation goes somewhere other than a church. The report says 96 percent of practicing Christians gave to a church or nonprofit this year, compared to 60 percent of atheists and agnostics.

Keeping this research in mind, raising funds can still be a challenge for the Church. If you’re looking to improve this portion of your ministry, take a look at “Growing a Culture of Giving That Works.”
