Americans Hold Mixed Views on Religious Liberty
A new report from Pew shows the American public is evenly split on most issues
According to a new report from Pew, the public's opinion on religious liberty vs. nondiscrimination is mixed. Almost half of Americans (49 percent) say businesses that service the wedding industry should be required to provide their services to same-sex couples, while 48 percent say those businesses should be allowed to refuse service.
On a similar note, the American public is almost equally divided on which restroom a transgender person should use — 51 percent say they should use the restroom of the gender with which they identify, and 46 percent say transgender people should use the bathroom that corresponds with their birth gender.
It is increasingly important for leaders to speak out on issues of religious liberty. To learn more about this topic, we recommend the Influence Podcast with Josh Hawley: “The State of Religious Freedom in America.”
